Being fair skin as I am, and an outside lifeguard I take sunscreen very seriously! Spring is just around the corner it’s time to figure out which sunscreens I will be using with the coming sun!! I was thrilled when I was asked to review the newest in thing in sunscreen, perfume sunscreen! Click down below to see what I think of it!
What it promises:
With spring quickly approaching and planning in progress for a sunny escape, skincare may be the last thing on your mind. After bundling up for the cold winter months, our skin will be especially sensitive to UV rays come spring break time. We know we’re supposed to wear sunscreen every day, but we know it’s easy to overlook when it’s cold outside.
- Broad Spectrum SPF 30
- Features skin-nourishing antioxidants
- Water resistant (80 minutes)
- Not tested on animals
- Made in the USA
- A portion of the proceeds go to supporting Bullying Awareness
Richie L. Lin, MD, board-certified dermatologist, advises that consistent use of sunscreen is a main factor in preventing signs of premature aging including skin discoloration, dark spots and creases. According to Dr. Lin, ‘Moderating sun exposure over your lifetime is probably the single best thing one can do to slow the aging process. If you can prevent it from happening, you will be ahead of the game.’
This spring, there’s a new way to keep your skin protected without the telltale smell of sunscreen. SolScents® is an all-day sun care inspired by fragrance and the sun. An ultra-moisturizing formula protects skin and offers seven light, fresh fragrances in broad-spectrum levels 15, 30 and 50.
What’s more, each scented product corresponds to a charitable cause, and a portion of every sale is donated to the causes. The scents include:
- Vanilla Silk: SPF 15
- Piña Colada: SPF 15
- Cucumber Melon: SPF 30
- Deep Love: SPF 30
- Angelica: SPF 30
- Flower Blast: SPF 50
- Raspberry Dreams: SPF 50

What I found:
I want to take a second to say I do agree with Dr. Lin who was quoted in the what it promises section. Sun exposure is completely unavoidable. It will happen so we just need to wear sunscreen to get ahead of the game, and he’s right!
On to the review!
I have to admit I don’t wear sunscreen every day like I should. I only wear it when I know I’ll be outside longer than 15minutes. But during the summer when I am outside I am very on top of my sunscreen application. I prefer SPF 70 and above on all my sunscreens, body and face.
I was given SolScents Deep Love SPF 50 to try, not my preferred SPF but I was willing to give it a try. I used this for a few days on my arms and legs. I wanted to make sure it doesn’t irritate the skin, it’s so cold out I could test for sun protection power. It never irritated my skin.
I even put this sun screen on my arms before I went for a run on my treadmill to see how it dealt with sweat. My skin didn’t get slimy but they were a little slick afterwards. Not something unusual for sweat and sunscreen.
It’s thicker than a lotion, but it spreads easier than normal sun screen. I am super picky about what I put on my face so I never tried this as a face sunscreen. I always use a different face sunscreen from my body.
The scent, I personally hate it. That scent is not my cup of tea. It smells like sugary fruit, but not in a good way. I’m sure someone else could love it but not me. I think I would have liked their vanilla scent better but that’s only SPF15 and I need more protection than that.
I did want to love this because they donate a portion of each bottle to different charities. Deep Love donates to anti-bullying charities.
- SPF 30
- Not tested on Animals
- Reasonably priced for 8oz of sunscreen coming in at $15
- Rubs in easier than normal sunscreens
- Made in America
- Scent, I wasn’t a fan.
VERDICT: This is a nice sunscreen. I just didn’t like this scent, which is a shame. This is a pass for me. You can buy SolScents here.
