I was trolling all the Walgreens in my local area this wonderful afternoon when I came across the display for e.l.f.’s Villainous Villain collection. I may or may not have squealed in Walgreens a bit. I know a lot of people have seen or been told it would be sold in the aisle dedicated to Halloween stuff, but this display was right in with the regular makeup.
Click down below for the swatches and review of e.l.f.’s Villainous Villain: Cruella!!
These kits are actually super neat, and a steal considering you are getting a disney license item, 8 eyeshadows, eyeliner, false lashes, eye primer, and two lip pencils. The kit has a protective clear covering to keep the eyeshadows from Dusting over the mirror and directions for the Day and Night looks.
Puppy Love: is a nice light skin color shadow. It just about blends into my skin, barely visible.
Coat of Dreams: Is a light gold shimmer eyeshadow. On the powdery side/has a bit of fallout, but creamy, easy to blend.
Cruelty: Is a gorgeous light/medium green shimmer. I wish the swatches did it justice. I would get this kit just for this eyeshadow, super creamy easy to blend.
Sewage: A dirty forest green shadow with gold glitter, a bit powdery/has a bit of fallout but still creamy.
Spotted: Almost a sheer gold shimmer. On the drier side. It’s a great highlight.
Maniac: A dark brown shadow with gold glitter. Powdery/has a bit of fallout but easy to blend.
Little Beasts: Is a nice matte brown. Hard to blend, watch out for fallout. On the drier side.
Extinction A darker version of sewage, has more brown than green to it and no glitter just shimmer.
These are all swatched over the eye primer given in the kit.
L to R Row 1: Puppy love, coat of dreams, cruelty, sewage. Row 2: spotted, maniac, little beasts, extinction.
The black liquid liner given in the kit. Extremely disappointed with e.l.f. that my brush for my liner is like this, which makes it useless. It’s a shame too because e.l.f.’s liquid liner is the best smudge-proof/waterproof out there. Once applied this stuff does not move!
There are two Lip and Cheek color pencils given a super pretty pink/peach color and a perfect red color. I wish the names of these were given so I could buy the full sizes of these.
VERDICT: I love this kit! It’s a must for any collector. I think this is great for those who aren’t into using tons of color, and want simple eye looks, but this kit can easily be used to create gorgeous smokey eyes for night time. All the shimmery/glittery shadows are super creamy but has fallout. The matte shadows are super powdery and hard to blend. For $9.99 it’s a steal that can’t be beat! Seriously look for these beauties in Walgreens. I can’t wait to go back and buy the other ones! Buy, buy BUY!!!
EDIT(9/21/12):The swatches are great but when applied to the eyes to do a look, – I try the day time look – the shadows all blended into a grayish color. Which is super disappointing. If you’re a makeup collector then I say Buy but if you are wanting to really use this I would say Pass.
