As you may know if you read it on my blog or follow me on Instagram - I'm engaged. Being engaged in this age of digital photos that not only are your wedding photos itself is important but getting engagement photos done are big too. With foundation not being my strong suit I broke down and paid a visit to my local MAC store to help me find the perfect foundation for my engagement photos.  I was recommended Stuido Fix Fluid click down below to see if this is a match!

What it promises:
A modern foundation that combines a natural matte finish and medium, buildable coverage with
broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 15 protection. Applies, builds and blends easily and evenly.
Comfortable and long-wearing, helps minimize the appearance of pores and imperfections, giving skin a smoother, more flawless look and finish

What I found:
I had a really, really completely unacceptable few visits to MAC in my early blogging career. The sales associates were rude and made me feel so tiny.  I didn't like it then decided to never buy MAC again. Well fast forward today there you find me desperately trying to find a foundation for my engagement photos.

I was super hesitant in even trying MAC but tons of lovely ladies on twitter suggested MAC foundations for photos.  I went in asked a very lovely, AND nice sale associate for help. She honestly blew me away with the effort she put in with helping me find a foundation.

I told her right off the bat what I'm avoiding and what my skin needs were. She suggested Studio Fix Fluid and Matchmaster Foundation. She picked out Studio Fix Fluid in NW15 for me.  She also gave me a sample to try for home as well as applying it to me in the store. It was a great experience because as she applied she explained how to do it and what kind of brush to use it with.

I tested it out today for work to see how it would fare. I first slapped on some primer then applied the foundation with a short flat brush, then stippled it with my elf stippling brush. The coverage was nice,  but I feel like I looked orange. I tried to capture it on film but I don't think I did a good job. I felt it looked greasy on my skin. I also felt like the coverage wasn't that great but then again I was applying it sparingly because I didn't want to look that orange.

Without powder and concealer

Even though I wasn't liking the foundation at first I put on some powder to set my face and went to blow dry my hair before work. I can't really tell if I like this foundation yet since it's only my second time wearing a full face with it. I can't tell if I don't like it because of the formula or if I don't like it because the shade is too dark.

As you can see in the finished look photo, that my concealer doesn't even come close to matching my foundation.
PROS:
  • Gives light/medium coverage.
  • Lots of colors to pick from
  • Did NOT break me out.
  • Dewy finish
CONS:
  • Made my skin a litle greasy
  • No pump, just a pour bottle
VERDICT: I don't want to say I don't like it yet but I think I need to try the proper shade before I really pass judgement on this foundation. I do know I won't be using this for my engagement photos!
