Since my last episode of using accutane to clear up my acne I've been slowly stopping use of foundation daily and switching to BB creams. Like most of BB creams they're just glorified tinted moisturizers. I was on the hunt to find a powder foundation that would give me coverage so I could skin the BB cream all together. Will this be a love match? Click down below to find out!
What it promise:
Oil-free. Velvety-soft lightweight powder foundation formulated with aloe vera extract to soothe and moisturize. Micronized, super-fine light reflecting pigments allow color to stay true and easy to blend while it covers imperfections and evens out skin tone. The result is a flawless finish with a soft focus effect. Light to medium coverage. Deluxe sponge applicator included. Made in USA.
What I found:
I picked this powder foundation in the lightest shade possible, Shell 01, since they don't have a wide color selection for any shade really. I believe only 11 shades total.
I'm in the market for a powder foundation that will have at least almost medium coverage. Something to give a bit more coverage than my BB cream, but without the maintenance of dealing with liquid foundation.
I have to say that this foundation isn't a foundation at all but no more than a setting powder. I saw no increase coverage over BB creams. When used alone it only lighten reds spots, and scaring but barely.
My biggest problem with it other than the fact it's powdery is that it broke me out. It wasn't angry pimply break out but a ton of small bumps over my temples and forehead. It was terrible! After about 3 days of use the bumps appeared! I was so upset!
Like I said above I had severe enough acne that I had to use accutane to get rid of it, you can bet your bottom dollar I won't continue to use a product that breaks me out! I stopped use immediately once the bumps emerged.
The packaging for the powder foundation is just like every other on the market. The first layer of the compact has a mirror and product in it. Then you push a button and pull up the foundation pot to reveal a sponge that came with it. The plastic feels pretty sturdy.
- It's cheap
- Can be found easily at many stores that sell drugstore brands.
- The packaging is sturdy
- Broke me out
- No coverage
- Small color selection
VERDICT: That being said, from it breaking me out to the lack of any sort of coverage this foundation is just not for me! This is a pass for me!
