Sally Hansen Gel Polish Starter kit review

I, like everyone else and their mother went crazy for the chance to get the Sally Hensen Gel start kit for pennies. I didn't want the strips which you could get for $3 after the cash back, 40% discount on Sally Hansen items, BOGOFree coupon, and the $10off coupon. I got the gel polish starter kit, which I thought was a better investment. Only for $29! Click down below to see if I picked the right starter kit!

What it Promises:

What I found:

As soon as I got this I had to try this right away. This kit had everything I need to do a gel manicure. The base and top coat, LED light, Gel polish, and the Alcohol wipes to remove the tackiness. The kit only comes with 10 wipes, hence them stating up to 10 manicures. The top and base coat is big enough to have way more than 10 different manicures.

The first time I used this kit it took me about 45 minutes to do a manicure. I know that's a long time, but I took my time and read the directions. I never done an at home gel manicure before this. The second time I used this kit it took me about 25minutes since I already knew what I had to do.

When using this kit I thought it was easy. Very do it yourself friendly. The directions are simple, and not complicated. The LED light can hold up to 4 fingers recommended but when I'm in a pinch I do maneuver my hand to fit my thumb in.

This kit comes with 10 presoaked alcohol wipes to remove the tackiness after manicure. Once those run out you can buy rubbing alcohol to remove the tackiness.

Day 1

The picture about is day 9. The new nail growth was getting to me. I also didn't think to take a picture of my mani until I started to remove them, so excuse the naked thumb.

As you can see that this mani was super glossy. The wear time is great! I love being able to keep a mani for over a week.

PROS:

  • High shine manicure for at least 7 days
  • No chipping
  • Cheaper than a gel manicure - per use
  • Easy home use
CONS:
  • Pricey start off price
  • Only 10 alcohol wipes.

VERDICT: I strongly recommend this kit! It was great that I was able to buy this for $19! (I paid $29, but I got $10 cash back!) Full price this is $70. I think this is a great price for everything you get in the kit. Also once you have this kit all you have to do is buy different gel nail polishes. You have the rest of the items you need. It'll save you a ton a year at the salon.
