E.L.F. Studio Mascara Primer Review

I'm going to admit this right away I have a disease called eyelash envy, paired with laziness. I always want a luscious fringe without any work, or use of fake lashes. Hence my search for a great mascara and eyelash primer. I made an order on elf a few months ago and threw this in last minute. I figured I'd give it a try since it's only $3.

Happy Memorial Day!

I know that this means it's time for BBQs and hanging by the pool. Or driving down to spend the 3 day weekend at the shore. Which yes that's true, it's the kick off for summer! The weekend everyone myself included always look forward to. I just want to blog about today about not forgetting why we have this 3 day weekend. To honor those who are in the service. Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Police and Firefighters. I know someone knows a person who serves so don't forget to take a break from boozing to thank them!

Coming from a family with both grandparents who fought in WWII and uncles who were in the Navy and Army. Family who are policemen and firemen. My own brother is in the Navy as well. To me I truly am thankful for all the scarifies these men and women do for us. I experience it first hand when my family can't make it home for my birthday (Christmas Day) It's a bummer sure, but it's something to be understood.

Hope everyone has a FUN and SAFE Memorial Day! Thanks to those who serve!!

Sunday Funday

For Mother's Day I promised my mom I would take her out on a Sunday for Brunch. Today we went to  The Cheesecake factory her favorite brunch spot. It's a shame it was so cold and windy it would have been nice to sit outside. We both got Mimosas along with our breakfast. It's was nice to have a little mommy and me time. I may not call her mommy anymore but she's really an awesome person.

After brunch I went with her to Lane Byrant to pick up some new clothes. Which afterwards she then surprised me by taking me into Pandora to get a new charm for my bracelet. I ended up getting a seashell. Which I love because as the kick off for summer is this weekend.

Did you ladies do anything special this weekend?

ApHogee 2-Step Protein Treatment and Balanced Moisturizer Review for Fine Hair

ApHogee 2-Step Protein Treatment and Balanced Moisturizer Review for Fine Hair, aphogee, fine hairWhat a mouth full! I was talking to my favorite Sally's owner about how my damaged hair is holding up when she suggested I try this product out. She did warn me that if I search it I may have a hard time finding someone with the same hair type reviewing this, but she promised it would work fine with my hair. Sally's and CVS Haul

Sally's Beauty Supply Haul, CVS Haul, Haul
The beauty of coupons. (Get it? Hahahaaa)  They are amazing things! It's been a tight paycheck month with car inspection/oil change and other things I gotta pay. Ah the joys of being an adult. Because of that I haven't really bought anything beauty related all month. Well lucky for me I had a few coupons up my sleeve to help me out!

My first stop was Sally's Beauty Supply. I had to pick up new nail files since mine have all taken a walk to god knows where. I love the women that runs the one I go to. She's always super nice and helpful, she's an ex-hairstylist. My membership card was up to expire so she had me renew it in one transaction. Because they give you a $5 off coupon when you renew you're membership. It literally pays for itself! Since I had a $5 off coupon I went back to wondering the store to pick up a few things.

I decided to pick up another Aphogee Two Step Protein Treatment. I just did this two weeks ago, so I bought one now to use again in mid-summer. Review should be up tomorrow. I also picked up Hair One Cleansing Conditioner for Dry Hair. I've been meaning to try a cleansing conditioner for awhile so I thought why not I have a coupon. I picked up 3 of my favorite nail files, Beauty Secrets Medium-Zebra 180 Grit file. The reason I love this file is that it works great for shaping my natural nails.

I saved $5 at Sally's Beauty Supply!

After that I had $7 extra care dollars about to expire so I went right over to CVS. I decided to pick up the Milani ultrafine liquid eye liner in Prismatic purple and Emerald Glisten. I know I'm a bit late on that bandwagon but I've been waiting for a good sale, something with extra care dollars. Since my were about to expire I thought it was now or never. They were BOGO 50% off.

I saved $10.75 at CVS!

I think today was a successful shopping day since I saved $15.75! This is why I try to never get things without a coupon or a sale. It makes a difference!

Swatches Series: Mac Sail Le Vie from Hey Sailor Collection

I, like everyone else wanted to get their hands on the Hey Sailor collection pieces when it came out last May. I decided since I didn't own a Orange lipstick yet I'd try Sail Le Vie since none of the other lipsticks jumped out at me. Low and behold I tried it, thought it wasn't for me and there it sat in my makeup collection for months untouched.

Summer Nail Polishes: My Picks

I'm that person who doesn't always follow the colors for the seasons. I've been spotted once or twice sporting neon colors in the dead of winter. I can imagine most of us can all agree we've done that before. But there are colors I tend to wear a lot and more often than others in the summer. Here are my favorites! Click down below to see swatches!

FREEDOM! The semester is over now what?

You finally leave the room after taking your last final of the semester. Now what? Dayloading on the beach? No! Sleeping all day? No!  Painting your nails everyday? YES!- Well that one is acceptable.

What a college student should do every summer is either have a summer job or an internship. Stop your groaning now. Suck it up. You know why? Because it's work history to put on your resume. Employers want to know that you weren't just loafing around during college. They want to know you have the work ethic to hold that job.

Yes I know you just want to relax and take a break. I complete understand that. Only work part time then. No one saids you have to work full time. Think of it this way you'll have more money to buy makeup and nail polish! Think of how awesome you'll look in that amazing dress in the store, but if only you had some Gs! If you hold a job then you can actually afford it. You still don't want to get a job, and you don't have to? Volunteer! That can also be put on a resume!

Speaking of Resumes how about updating your resume over the summer. It takes all of 45mins tops.

What else should you do? Read. I love to read in the summer. Between work and school I have no time to read during the semester. Jodi Picoult Picture Perfect is one of my favorite books to read. Or anything by Sarah Dessen, I grew up reading those.

Don't forget if you're taking a language to keep practicing over the summer or by end of August you'll forget everything. Trust me, I've done that before!

I know school is over and you all are rolling your eyes at me but don't completely forget about school. Yes it's a time to relax and let loose. I know I'll plan a few beach trips and lazy days myself. I value those days more when I work all summer because those are extra special.

What are your summer plans? I know not everyone is still in school with summers off. Anyone else can't wait to go to the beach?

Worth the Splurge? FusionBeauty LashFusion XL Review

BirchBox May 2013

Affiliated link- Purchased

After last month's so/so box I was super excited to for this box. I have so far religiously gotten one star item in each box, like the beauty protector protect and detangle spray best thing in April's Box! I'm not sure what will be my favorite this month, but here's what I got!
Amika Oblipphica Nourishing Mask, birchbox, birchbox may 2013, Isaac Mizrahi Fabulous Eau de Parfum, Marvis Classic Mint Toothpaste, Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner, Pilot Acroball Pure White Pen in Purple

  •  Amika Oblipphica Nourishing Mask- It comes in a little one time use packet. I can probably get two uses out of it because the packet is fill to the brim.
  • Coola Classic Face SPF Cucumber Moisturizer for Face- it came in a decent size container I could see at least 6 uses out of this, probably more. I am confused on this. While it saids on our card it's a moisturizer on they advertise it almost like it's a sunscreen. Not sure how to use this one.
  • Isaac Mizrahi Fabulous Eau de Parfum - Once again I got another perfume sample, ugh I hate stuff like this because my nose is super sensitive to certain scents. It's almost comical that I got it because I just filled out the new and improved birchbox survey stating I don't like perfume samples and send me less than 6 a year. Blah. Now the  scent has a musky, floral, sweet smell. Not my cup of tea at all.
  • Marvis Classic Mint Toothpaste - Is definitely one of those deluxe sample sizes. It's not lying when it saids strong mint on the tube. Before I even took off the seal I could smell the mint. I only used it once. It's definitely strong minty flavor, mouth felt clean afterwards. I'll keep this in my travel kit. Nice enough.
  • Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner- I think I got black, there's no color name on the eyeliner. I haven't opened this and I will be saving this until I have to throw out my current eye liner. The sample size it a pretty good size. I will probably have to throw it out due to it expiring before I run out of this.
  • Pilot Acroball Pure White Pen in Purple- I am extremely annoyed that I got a pen in a beauty box. I rather get one of those useless twist bands. The pen writes in purple ink- I didn't realize I was back in high school again. This pen would redeem itself if it doesn't smear. I'm left handed so I try to find pens that won't cover my hand in ink. After writing a few sentences the ink doesn't smear too badly on the paper, but it's all over the side of my hand. This thing is useless to me.
All in all, I gotten a lot of useful items - minus the pen - I deem this an okay box.

What did you ladies get in your boxes? How do you feel about birchbox?

Garnier B.B. Cream Combination to Oily Skin Review

Swatch of Garnier BB cream Combination to Oily Skin in Light/Medium, Garnier BB cream Combination to Oily Skin in Light/Medium, bb cream, garnier bb cream

I want to start off saying I received this to review as part of a Bzzagent Campaign. Yes I do realize that I did a review on it's predecessor. With so/so results. I figured since I see all the European bloggers rave about the Garnier BB cream made for Oily skin I'd give this a whirl. Click down below if this is as new and improved as it claims.

Worth the splurge? Origins GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer Review

The end of the semester is coming, exam week has begun. My skin is far from dull even with working and those long cram-everything-I-learned-in-14-weeks-into-my-brain nights. How is that possible you ask?  Origins GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer! I can see the eye rolls now, 'not you too!' I can't help it! If you want to know why I think this moisturizer is awesomesauce just keep reading! UPDATE: No seriously it is promise!

What this moisturizer promises:
What it is formulated to do:
This lightweight, oil-free facial cream is fortified with legendary skin-boosters like panax ginseng and coffee bean to jumpstart hydration levels. Lackluster-looking skin is rapidly refreshed and revitalized to create a healthy, vibrant glow.

After one application GinZing™ Energy-boosting moisturizer:
·         Boosts skin’s radiance
·         Improves skin’s hydration
·         Smooths skin

Ingredients include:
·         Panax Ginseng: Known to help strengthen and eliminate visible signs of fatigue.
·         Caffeine: A powerful anti-irritant derived from coffee beans
·         Chestnut Seed: Desquamates dull surface cells.
·         Olive: Provides oil-free hydration and creates a translucent "glow" to skin.
·         Grapefruit Oil: Uplifting aroma that also imparts clinically proven anti-irritancy benefits.
·         Spearmint Oil: Known to encourage energy.
·         Lemon Oil: The citrus fragrance is known to helps dispel mental fatigue and increase concentration and awareness.

Origins products are formulated WITHOUT:
Parabens ● Phthalates ● Propylene Glycol ● Mineral Oil ● PABA ● Petrolatum
Paraffin ● DEA ● Animal Ingredients (except cruelty-free honey and beeswax)

What I found:

This moisturizer comes in a jar. This has an awesome gel like consistency, which is great for the coming warmer months where other moisturizers just feel too heavy.

I have been using this moisturizer for over a month now. It has replaced my beloved Olay beauty fluid. Now that is saying something. I use it twice a day, in the morning before I apply my makeup and right before bed. This feels super refreshing and lightweight when I apply it.

Now I wish I took before and after photos. My skin just looks healthier. I feel more awake when I use this. My skin isn't dull. It's moisturized, healthy and happy. There is always a noticeable difference when the skin is healthy. SUPER BONUS: It does not break me out! 10 points to Origins!!

I was that girl that HATED orange flavored items. Don't even get my started on citrus scents, they always smell so fake. Yet here I am agreeing to sample Origin's GinZing. Yes this product does not have or advertise that there is any orange ingredients but it does have a citrus- leaning to the orange side- scent! Funny thing is I love it! In the morning it really wakes me up! The scent is still refreshing when I use it at night. It does not linger.

  • Lightweight
  • Gel consistency
  • Moisturizes the skin
  • Fights dullness
  • Does NOT break me out
  • Skin feels refresh after use
  • Scent does not linger
  • A little goes a long way
  • Tons of product in the container 1.7oz
  • In a jar container
  • Strong Citrus scent - I like it, but I know other's wont
  • Pricey
VERDICT: I am totally in love with this moisturizer! Glowing review aside- pun fully intended- this is super pricey for a college student to spend on. $27 is a lot of money. That's almost as much money as food from a food cart for a week! Or two nights at the bar! So is it worth the splurge? Yes! Think of it this way, even using this twice a day for over a month I only made a small dent in the container. That's less than a dollar for everyday you use it twice. I recommend this to all! Perfect moisturizer for the coming summer!

UPDATE I have repurchased this personally twice already. It works ladies! Pick it up! I love this!! I feel so awake and fresh after I apply this in the morning! I do not use this at night because I need something with a little more punch to it, but I still love it all the same!

This product was provided for review, but all statements, opinions and photos are my own.

Revlon Posh Swatch

I think I am secretly in love with the color green. I openly say I really don't like that color very much but I own so much of it!

For example Revlon's Posh, which supposedly is a dupe for Essie's Pretty edgy that I always wanted. Revlon was having a sale at CVS including extra care bucks I couldn't say no!

The formula is okay nothing special. I found the brush to be hard to control, see the polish on my skin - I didn't have time to clean up, sorry! Posh is such a lovely color, I'm utterly in love and can't wait to use it more often! Lasted 4 days on me before chipping which is just long enough for me not to get bored!

Just to prove to you how secrectly in love with green which is sad. I own so many variations of green. Sea foam green is my favorite color! The shirt in my new about me photo is sea foam green/turquoise! Check out EmilyBeth Designs she did my new about me and contact buttons!

Even my senior Prom dress was green! I had senior prom weekend, 3 years from today. Cue tears of nostalgia. Oh how I loved my senior prom!

 My Goddaughter and I

My best friend Coll and our dates
(Who in typical High School fashion do not keep in touch with anymore)

Funny thing is those were the only ones of a close to full body shot of my dress without a ton of other people in the photo.

How's everyone else Thursday going? Ladies what's your favorite color??

April Favorites 2013

I can smell the sun tan lotion and beach already! Ah it's finally May! Thank god! Only two more weeks of school before freedom for the summer! I know I can't be the only one excited for the coming summer months!

I'm not sure you guys want to see my April favorites because they are just about the same as my March favorites. I can hear the chorus of 'if she mentions Lumene BB cream one more time...' I'm sure you guys know of my love for it. So instead here are a few items I normal don't put in my favorite posts but things I love anyway!!

With the windy, warming weather coming I've been doing a ton of 'sock buns'. Yes I know I've
been using the bun donunt - does this thing have a real name? I just can't master using an actual sock! I bought the bun donut at Sallys for about $2. So worth the investment. I spice up the updo by putting on of my favorite bows underneath the bun.

With the spring rolling in I've been using Versace Bright Cyrstal a lot. I reserve this perfume for the spring time. It's a pretty semi-heavy floral scent.

I love, LOVE Sally Hansen's Acrylic nail gel. Takes forever to dry but my nails don't chip, which is just lovely!

I've been in love with my Fresh Sugar Rose balm. I recieved this mini in my Sephora Beauty club birthday gift. It gives a little red tint and my lips just love this stuff. But it is very pricey!

Ladies what is your favorites of April? Any recommendations to try to spice up my routine?
