Organix Macadamia Oil Mask

In the beginning of this past December Walgreens was having a BOGOFree sale for organix, and me being me I couldn't say no. I did a review on the other mask, Organix Awapuhi Ginger Mask, I bought.

I found that the Awapuhi mask smelled delish, but was super drying. What did I think of the Macadamia Oil Mask? Keep reading to find out.

This mask has a thick consistency, but even with that texture it feels like it's sitting on the top of your hair.  I actually had to use quite a bit to feel like it sunk in my hair. The first time I used it I left it in for about 6 or 7 minutes.  ( two songs worth, I can't shower without music. I've gotta have some music for my singing) I didn't add my usual argan oil after my shower because I wanted to see how moisturized my hair felt. As my hair air dried my ends felt like straw. Since I had the exact same results with the Awapuhi Ginger Mask I wasn't going to do a repeat of using this with my hair oil. This immediately got moved to my hair-conditioners-I-didn't-like-but-use-as-shaving-cream pile.
  • Get a lot of product for price
  • Felt like a conditioner not a mask
  • Hair was knotted and felt like straw after use.
  • I didn't like the scent
VERDICT: I will admit I might be a little bias. I did have the same exact experience (sans the amazing smell) as the other hair mask I bought from this company. I just don't think these masks do well on damaged hair. Which is bad since this is marketed towards helping damaged hair. Skip. Sells for about $7.99

February Birchbox 2013

It's finally arrived! Ahhh FINALLY! I was on the waiting list for about two months before I got my first box. I am super happy so far with my box, I haven't tried anything yet.

For my first box I lucked out, I've seen a lot of disappointing boxes out there in the blogsphere. One things is I wish I got the green color club polish. I don't have a shade like that.

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator, LashFuison XL Mascara, Nicole Richie Fragrance: Nicole, Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm , Dr Jart, Birchbox, february birchbox, birchbox 2013, birchbox february 2013

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator. It seems like a deluxe sample to me at least 8 uses. I haven't tried it yet.

Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm , say that 10times. It's super small about the size of my pinky (I do have long fingers) It looks like maybe 2 or 3 uses. I'm disappointed in this a bit because I was hoping for a bigger sample since it takes a few uses of face makeup before I decide if it's for me or not for me.

LashFuison XL Mascara. Super deluxe sample size. To give you a visual on how big and much I actually got is that it's longer than my Benefit's They're Real mini mascara. It also has more product with .28oz while Benefit's They're Real is only .014oz. I hope I like this mascara just as much as I like that one. I won't be testing this mascara out for another 3 months right now because I already have a few mascaras open. I am very serious about throwing my mascaras away after 3 or 4 months of using it.

Nicole Richie Fragrance: Nicole. I'm not a huge fan of getting perfume samples. I'm a creature of habit and only like certain scents. I decided to give this a shot because I tend to love vanilla scents. I sprayed this in the air, and on a piece of paper. It has a warm scent. Warm and sugary. I feel like if I wore this perfume I'd get a headache from it. I don't smell any rose in this. There's just something in this that ticks my nose off that this smells odd, super strong. I will probably never use this.

The chocolate carmel square didn't survive me typing this up, nomz.

VERDICT: In my opnion and out of luck I think this month's birchbox is worth the $10. I'm already excited for March's!

If you want to try birchbox for yourself click through here and help me out! I wholeheartedly recommending trying it out! I love it! I also think this is better than ispy because they do have a point reward system that when you review a product from the box on their site they give you 10 points. When you reach 100 points you get $10 to spend in the store where you can buy full size products of the items you get from your box!

Fashion Sundays: Hair Bows

I changed the name of my blog to Beauty and Fashion months ago but did not really touch on the fashion. It's time to change that I will hopefully keep up with Fashion Sundays. Time will tell.

If you're anything like me you love pinterest. It's a great place really. Also if you are crafty like me then you have all these things you want to make. I want to make hair bows. I love them really. I know I could easily make them myself but I decided to buy them from a really awesome seller on Her store is called Tita's Hiding Place.

Tita's Hiding Place is located in the US, so if shipping to the US the prices are really great. The bows I think are reasonably priced. I bought two the first time from her. I am planning to buy more actually.

The bows are made of cloth and really well constructed. There are 3 sizes to choose from along with 3 different clips to pick as well. In these pictures I bought the medium size bows with the largest barrette clip.

This bows are really sturdy and don't lose shape. My one and only complaint is that I'm not sure if she hand sewed these or hot glued them. As you can see from these two photos that she secured the barrette in place with hot glue. I was hoping that maybe that it would be sewed and glued in place. As I started out this post I sew, and quite well. I just wanted to buy them so I wouldn't have to do the work.

Will that stop me from repurchasing? NO! I love these bows! They're super cute, prices are great! I emailed her a question before I bought them and the owner was super nice and answered my questions. I love the work she does. I'm waiting for my next paycheck before I buy more! They are super classy, make a cute add on to any sockbun updo.

VERDICT: I would not hesitate to buy from her again. I am definitely repurchasing! Bows sell anywhere from $3-5.

A Hidden Gem: Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque review

One of my new years resolutions which I have been keeping up with is taking better care of my skin. I have been using Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque for years, since I was a sophomore in High School, so about 6 years. I haven't been faithful with it up until this last december.
I would use it one a week here, then maybe next month I would use it twice. I keep coming back to this because it helps keep the hormonal pimples away and my skin super soft.  I know everyone sees this either at the drugstore, or Sally's or even the super market. But how many of you ladies actually pick this up? It's so cheap this tub I probably paid $5 for it max, and get over 6 months worth of use if used once every week.

If you can't tell by the finger marks I use this mask a lot now. Speaking of finger marks, this isn't very hygienic. BUT you should do a light wash of your face before using this so by doing that your fingers will be clean so there should be no problems in that department.

I spread this all over my face. It saids you can use this on your neck but I find that can be just too messy to clean up sometimes.

  • Minty feeling
  • Skin smooth afterwards
  • Skin feels refresh
  • Skin feels tighter
  • Smells minty fresh
  • If comes in a tube it's more hygienic but hardens inside, if you get the tub it won't harden on itself but it's not very hygienic.
  • No noticeable shrinkage of pores
I love this masque because it gives my skin a nice perk up because of the minty feeling it leaves behind. It smells so yummy too!

I tend to put a little too much on my cheeks most times so I usually leave this on for 15minutes to harden. Which then looks like this before I wash it off.

I splash my face with warm water a few times before I take a washcloth and wipe it off. Don't worry this masque washes easily off washclothes in the wash.

VERDICT: Considering that I only have one real complaint about this product. I do recommend this to all, even those with severe acne problems, or any type of acne. I did notice a difference when I have pretty bad acne. Can be found at your local Drugstore, Super Market and Sally's. This is such a steal for a great product!

Swatches Series: Hits Apollo

If you haven't noticed yet I am in love with holo polishes. They are my absolute favorite. This is my favorite holo brand. It's a nail polish brand based in Brazil.
This post will be mostly text because just look at those photos it's beautiful. I know I sound like every other nail polish out there but this pictures do not capture the true beauty of this polish. This looks holo in natural light, and artificial light as well.

  • Look at this GORGEOUS!
  • Takes only two coats for opacity
  • Last for about 4 days. 6 if I'm not in the pool or rough with my hands.
  • Strong Linear polish
  • Hard to find in America. I suggest buying from Ninja Polish
VERDICT: I am in love with this holo. I seriously suggest everyone go buy it. Depending it were you buy it the prices ranges. I bought this for $8 on

Nail Polish Jewelry.

Once all these nail polish jewelry started popping up all over etsy. I wanted some for myself so bad. I almost bought some. Until I found out how to make it for myself. Youtube of course. I started to make some just for myself. Then someone suggested I should sell them to help raise money for my Study Abroad trip. Granted I didn't get accepted to the program yet, but it doesn't hurt to start saving money now. It's so expensive studying abroad.

So the point of this post is to ask you ladies your opinions. Would you buy any of these designs? I like them yes, but are they sellable? I'm making them for a craft fair in a few months and I'm trying to find winning designs. Any nail polish combination suggestions?

I used a lot of holos, flakies and shatter polishes since they seem to turnout the best.

ELF's tinted moisturizer Review

I have the biggest love/hate relationship with ELF products. I am in love with some things while others are a complete and utter miss.
Where does this land? If you keep reading you'll find out!

I just want to start off saying I think I got the wrong shade. It's a 'I think' because I'm starting to have this strong suspicious of ELF products running on the orange side. Even the palest shades look orangey on me. This is in the shade nude.

The picture to the left is a dap of the Tinted Moisturizer on one side then next to it is a rubbed in swatch of the Tinted moisturizer.

As you can see in the two photos of the Tinted moisturizer rubbed in it turns orangey.

  • Moisturizing
  • Doesn't clog pores
  • light coverage.

  • Smells off
  • Line runs orange
  • Wear time maybe 3 hours. Not long.
VERDICT: So I'm not a fan. The line seems to run orange. Wear time is pretty poor. I require more coverage, which I can't get from this. I would pass on it. Sells for $3 from target and online

Swatches Series: NYX Chaos

NYX is one of my favorite lipstick brands, right next to MAC. Its undying love for the both of them really. Swatch 2 of the beginning of a long swatching series is NYX Chaos. I've been using this for ages. I've actually already repurchased this lipstick.

Now that I starting off this post stating that I love this lipstick let me explain why.

With Flash

Without flash

  • Creamy
  • I feel like since it is such a creamy/shiny finish that it moisturizes my lips
  • A Beautiful color
  • Cheap - can be found anywhere from $1.99 to $6. Depending on sales
  • Get a good amount of product.
  • The perfect red lipstick
  • Last 4 hours with no eating
  • Last 3 if drinking through a straw
  • Does not last through any type of eating, and if you don't drink from a straw it bleeds everywhere
  • It TRANSFERS everywhere.
With the transferring problems you might be asking me why I still love this lipstick. Well the color is beautiful. The perfect red lipstick. The shine is awesome. It feels like it moisturizes my lips. Also I only wear this when I go to parties, or out where I know I can drink from a straw or a bottle. It's easy to reapply. If I'm not eating I don't mind this lipstick

VERDICT: Okay so this lipstick transfers on everything, but it's a beautiful color, and feels great on the lips. I recommend this if you are looking for the perfect red. I have turned this to a matte red by using a translucent powder over top. Sells anywhere from $1.99 to $6. Can be found At Ulta, and - my favorite place to buy NYX products from.

Lush Butterball Review

lush, lush review, lush butterball, butterball review, lush bath bomb, lush butterball review, lush butterball, lush bathbomb review
Lush ButterBall bath bomb
I decided to celebrate surviving my Fall 2012 semester in College. I got a few bath bombs and a lotion.

I decided to pick this one up because of it's claim to moisturize the skin. The $4.95 price tag doesn't hurt either.

Most bath bombs can be broken in half to stretch. I decided I didn't feel like breaking it in half, I wanted to get the full affect of this bath bomb.

This bomb didn't change the color of my bath water nor did it have bubbles. It also doesn't claim to do those things so I was okay with it. It did have little coca chunks that floated around which can be used by rubbing into the skin. The bath felt super moisturizing. I loved it. When I got out and was done, it did leave a feeling on my skin. Almost like a layer of something. I'm not sure how to describe it. It wasn't a grimy feeling, but my skin felt moisturized.

It has a light smell but nothing too strong. I love using this one in combination of a bubble bar. This doesn't clash with the scent of bubble bars. I suggest combining Ma Bar, which gives you a warm smelling bath. I also like combining it with The Comforter which is a sweeter scent.

VERDICT: For $4.95 I think it's worth it, even using it all in one go. I will definitely repurchase it and have already done so! I recommend reading a book and a glass of wine to relax as you enjoy this bath! Can be bought in lush stores and online at

Lush's Valentine's Rockabilly Bash

Ahhh the greatness of living near two Lush stores. I went to the Valentine's Rockabilly Bash at the Cherry Hill Mall yesterday with a friend of mine for a free arm and hand treatment. I just have to say I loved it. It was nice to have a few products to test. I did pick up one item that was used. Tender is The Night message bar. Smells super delish!

I went with a friend of mine to the Valentine's Rockabilly Bash. We both got the low-down together which is nice. What we got to try was the You Snap The Whip body butter. I loved this exfoliate it made my skin super soft. The smell wasn't really too noticeable on the skin.

Lush, Lush's Valentine's Rockabilly Bash, Silky Underwear Dusting Powder,Tender Is The Night, Ro's Argan Body Conditioner , You Snap The Whip body butter
taken from website sells for $10.95
Next the sales associate ( I can't believe I didn't ask for her name, she was super nice and helpful). Then rubbed  Ro's Argan Body Conditioner on to our arms. She let it set for a few moments as she explained it to us before she washed it away. It smells a lot like D&G Rose the one, which I adore. This seriously made my arms so silky. It instantly went on the top of my wish list. The next item I splurge on will be this lotion no doubt. It sells for $32. Which is a lot of money for a shower lotion but at least now I already know it's worth the splurge.
Lush, Lush's Valentine's Rockabilly Bash, Silky Underwear Dusting Powder,Tender Is The Night, Ro's Argan Body Conditioner , You Snap The Whip body butter
taken from sells for $32.95
She then rubbed Tender Is The Night on our arms. Which is my second favorite of this whole bunch, with a wallet friendly price of around $8. It has wonderful sweet floral scent. I of course bought this. This really moisturized my skin. I can't wait to use this on my poor dry legs. I'm thinking of going back on pay day to buy a few more just to stock up since this is a limited edition item for valentines day.
Lush, Lush's Valentine's Rockabilly Bash, Silky Underwear Dusting Powder,Tender Is The Night, Ro's Argan Body Conditioner , You Snap The Whip body butter
taken from sells for $7.95

Lastly the sale associate used Silky Underwear Dusting Powder on our arms to help soak in our newly pampered arms. She explained that this is a powder to help freshen up a bit. She suggested using it after a workout to freshen up. Which is such a great idea. This item is also wallet friendly as well. After the conditioning lotion and the message bar I couldn't really differentiate the smell of this powder. I would like to try this again without other scents getting in the way.
Lush, Lush's Valentine's Rockabilly Bash, Silky Underwear Dusting Powder,Tender Is The Night, Ro's Argan Body Conditioner , You Snap The Whip body butter
taken from sells for $6.95
The Valentine's Rockabilly Bash was super fun. It was great to go with a friend and enjoy it together. I only bought myself the message bar because I bought my friend her first bubble bar. I also talked her into a bath bomb as well. Sent her home with a mini bottle of wine and she can experience her first bath with Lush in style.

If you can't already tell Lush is super awesome and worth trying. Even if I didn't buy anything else that I mentioned doesn't mean it's not worth it. It only means my college student job can't support my Lush addiction.

Guest Post: How To Wear Dark Lipstick

Hello to all of Meg's readers!  My name is Christine and I'm a beauty blogger from Toronto, Canada.  I've been following Meg's blog for awhile and was excited when she offered to let me write a guest post.  Today I'll be telling you how to make a scarily dark lipstick easy to wear.

I had long admired women who wore beautiful dark lipstick and always assumed they wouldn't suit be because I'm too pale.  I eventually bit the bullet and tried dark lipsticks but it took some trial and error to figure out how to do the rest of my makeup so I don't get washed out.  So I'm here to share my tips.

Eyes:  Stick to simple and neutral eyeshadow.  I used a light matte brown all over my lid (Urban Decay Naked), a dark brown in the crease and lower lash line (Urban Decay Darkhorse), and a satiny cream shadow in the inner corners of my eyes.  I think it's important to fill in your brows and wear some bold eyeliner to balance the look.

Face:  Dark and bold lipsticks can bring out imperfections in your skin so wear your usual base makeup.  I'd suggest adding a bronzer or contour to warm up your skin.  I personally use MAC Blush in Harmony to contour my face.

Cheeks:  Mauve, berry, coral, and dark pink blushes all work with dark lipsticks.  I have used MAC Blush in Dollymix which is a dark pink with a slight shimmer.

Lips:  I have choosen Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in "Black Cherry" as it's a beautiful dark burgundy shade and is very affordable.  A good lipstick shouldn't need a lip liner but if you prefer to use one, MAC's Lip Pencil in Vino goes well.  If "Black Cherry" seems too scary, MAC Lipstick in Rebel is a less bold but equally pretty option.

I hope this helps anyone who is too afraid to wear a very dark lip colour.

Don't forget to check out Christine from Little Red Bow!! She has a super cute blog! So many lip product swatches!

Date Night Makeup

naked swatches, urban decay, naked UD makeup look, naked makeup look, naked date night look, date night makeup, simple date night look, easy date night look, date night look for beginners, makeup for beginners,
With Valentines day right around the corner I know if you ladies are anything like me you're trying to figure out now how to do your makeup for your date night with that special someone. This look is great for date night, or even a night out, or a party. It's dressy but simple enough to not have a lot of products needed.

I know you probably can already guess which products I have been using. The naked palette again? Oh no not NYX Pinched blush again! I can already hear you ladies saying that but I do love those products they're my favorites!
naked swatches, urban decay, naked UD makeup look, naked makeup look, naked date night look, date night makeup, simple date night look, easy date night look, date night look for beginners, makeup for beginners,
What I used was Sin all over the lid. Buck in the  2/3 of the way in the crease. Hustle in the V winging it out a bit. I then dotted Creep in the V, then blended to make the V a little darker.

I added eyeliner close to my lash line, i used elf's liquid liner. I brushed NYX's blush in pinched over my cheeks. I used Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse as my foundation. I believe I used Mac's Viva La Glam Lady Gaga 1 in this photo.

naked swatches, urban decay, naked UD makeup look, naked makeup look, naked date night look, date night makeup, simple date night look, easy date night look, date night look for beginners, makeup for beginners,
I found this look super easy to do. Took no more than 15minutes at most to do. The ease of picking just one palette to use is why I love the NAKED. I will and have always recommend this palette to everyone. I love it.

I hope you ladies loved my Date night makeup, and find a way to make it work for you. Good Luck! Have fun!

Worth the Splurge?:Too Faced Lip Insurance review

worth the splurge, too faced, too faced lip insurance, too faced review, too faced lip insurance swatch, lipstick primer review, lipstick primer
Like everyone else I will do almost anything to help my lipstick last. I picked this up a few months ago, and have used this sparingly. PS Don't mind the poor appearance of the container, it's sat in the bottom of my makeup bag for a long time now.

The lipstick primer comes in a pretty small tube, but then again a little goes a long way. It has a doe foot applicator. To use you apply a little to your lips, rub together once and let dry. After letting it sit for about a minute you apply your lipstick and you are set.

worth the splurge, too faced, too faced lip insurance, too faced review, too faced lip insurance swatch, lipstick primer review, lipstick primer
How well does this work? Well honestly I saw minimum difference in wear time. I really wanted to love this. The only difference I see is that my dark lipsticks don't leave such a dark tint once it wears away.

With no eating when using this my lipstick can last about 5 to 6 hours. With light snacking 4 hours. During a meal a 1 hour tops. Using this while at a party with light snacking, and drinking 3 hours tops.

I do have to say this does not interfere with reapplication of lipstick. It doesn't leave a bad taste. Has no scent. No color so it doesn't interfere with the color of the lipstick.

VERDICT: Is it worth the splurge? Maybe. I don't think I will personally buy this again. But for someone who wears lipstick all the time, or at least a lot it's something to look into. Is it worth the $19? I say no, if it was $10 I would definitely would buy it again. Can be bought at Sephora, Ulta or online at

January 2013 Favorites

I honestly don't have a lot of favorites. I kept this month very minimal as I just went back to school and I'm still trying to sleep as long as possible before I'm late for my train.

Lumene Vitamin C+ Illuminating Anti-Age BB Cream,Lumene BB Cream in Light, Lumene BB Cream swatch, Lumene BB Cream, Lumene BB Cream review, Lumene BB Cream ,lumene bb cream, elf liquid eyeliner, macs shockwave, covergirl simply powder foundation,
As you can tell I wasn't big on eyeshadow this month. I honestly only used it if I went out on a Friday or a Saturday. For school I only did cat eyes eyeliner paired with my cat eyes mascara, review here. (hehee) I did a review on it here. Since my lashes have grown, and gotten healthier I changed how I felt about this mascara. I love it now.

I've been switching up the cat eyes by using different color eyeliners. Such as shockwave from MAC and midnight from elf. I finish up my makeup with two thin layers of Lumene's BB cream, covergirl's simplypowder foundation and dotting elf's facial whips in pink lemonade as blush. If I have time I use the facial whip as a base and then layer on a powder blush to make it last longer.

As you can tell these are my favorite items that I used religiously. It's been a simple get me out the door month makeup wise.

Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Review

Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Review, maybelline, cat eyes, mascara, review, colossal cat eyesI had a coupon for $1 off the Colossal Cat eyes mascara from rite aid, and a $.50 off any maybelline eye makeup, so I obviously could not say no to trying out this mascara. The mascara packaging itself appealed to me. I have yet to see any cheetah print I didn't like.
I want to start off saying I love wands like this! I feel like I am able to apply mascara more evenly and better with wands like this. This has the very distinct mascara scent to it, I'm not exactly sure what it smells like but it's not all that pleasant.  It's a pretty dry mascara, and dries within a minute. I generally like this mascara, it gives me better than normal results, just not amazing results.
  • Fast dry time
  • Gives okay volume
  • Does add length
  • Awesome wand
  • Really cool packaging
  • Lashes still feel soft
  • Smells weird
  • Doesn't give bam wow lashes like promised

This product is best for those who already have long lashes, and or a lot of lashes.
So this doesn't live up to it's promises, but it's still a pretty good mascara. I feel like if you have long lashes, and a lot of them you'll love this mascara. My friend has such nice lashes and she loves this mascara.

Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Review, maybelline, cat eyes, mascara, review, colossal cat eyes
( Please excuse my jungle of eyebrows. After a botched wax job, I have to fully grow them out again to make them normal. The wax lady waxed one higher than the other.  )
Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Review, maybelline, cat eyes, mascara, review, colossal cat eyes

VERDICT: This doesn't do wonders for me, but I do like this mascara. I will continue to use it until I have to throw it out.  Benefit's They're Real has ruined other mascaras for me! What a shame. Sells for about $8. Pass.

So I've been using this mascara for about 4 months now, I even repurchased this. Since I made this review I've been doing things to make my lashes healthier which in turn made my lashes grow. Now that I have longer and thicker lashes I am in love with the mascara. So my prediction of if you have long lashes already this mascara will be for you. I do love this mascara and suggest it to those with long lashes already. Picture below is with my longer, healthier lashes.
