Holiday Nails

Want a cute holiday nail look, but don't have a konad kit, or can't do nail art? Then you're in the same boat as me. Here is a super easy way to do it you just use a dark green polish you have, or buy a cheap one from sinful colors for $2. Then buy a silver shatter polish, (sally hanson, nicole opi, are a few cheap brands to pick from). You paint all your nail in the dark green color, then let dry. Once dry paint the silver shatter polish on top and bam! You have a super easy christmasy look, without have your nails crazily done. Also if your like me and not a fan of doing super christmas themed nails, then this is perfect for you. This is as christmasy as I will decorate myself for christmas.

This could easy fit into a college student budget even if you don't already own these nail polishes. I recommend especially for a college student to invest in a silver shatter polish because it can make a mani last a few days longer because when you paint it over chipped polish no one will know it was once chipped because the shatter covers your chips! Easy all around solution for boring nails/chipped polish.

Need a quick nail fix?

Oh no you have a surprise get together and you need something quick but nice looking to do with your nails. A french manicure is always the best solution! And are super cheap to do. You can get the supplies at your local drugstore, or at Sally's. All you need is a sheer pink, a white polish and the French manicure strips. I bought my french manicure strips for $1.50 at Sally's, and in the pack it has over 100 of the strips so you'll get many uses out of it - a real steal! I had the other polishes in my stash so I didn't need to buy the polishes.

You paint the sheer pink first, let dry. I like to use a speed dry nail polish for this. I then placed the white strips where I wanted to start the white line, painted and bam you have a super easy and nice going out look. To create my french manicure it only took me 15minutes to do then I was ready to walk out the door. As you can see this is a super cute look.

Looks of the Naked Palette vol 1

Okay so the naked palette doesn't exactly fit into a college budget. The price of it is my makeup budget for two months ($48.) So it doesn't exactly have the college friendly price tag. I will say that this is one item to save up for and splurge. This item is honestly needed in everyone's makeup collection in my opinion. It took me two months of saving my makeup budget to buy this palette. Best investment I have ever made. I had this palette for a little over a year, and used it at least three times a week. I have yet to hit bottom in any of the shadows.

So even though there's a naked2 out I will be starting a series I like to call the "Looks of the Naked Palette". I find that it's always nice to see how other people use a palette, and let me tell you there's tons of looks you can do. Now enough of my babble onto the makeup look.

1. I patted  toasted on my lid with an elf C brush. 2. Then I put hustle on my crease and the corner of my lid with a elf fluffy brush. Blended the crease up a little. 3. Lined my eye with maybelline's eyestudio gel liner in black. 4. I finished off with Maybelline's lots of lashes mascara.

As you can see this is a really simple and easy eye look that can be done in less than 10mins. This has been a go to morning look for school for me.

Baby Oil is a Godsend

Baby oil I just discovered is a godsend. It removes the toughest makeup and hydrates my skin and makes my lashes grow. It's a three in one.

So I read on some many different blogs about using baby oil on your eyelashes, and lids. So in October (So long ago I know) I went out and bought some Baby Oil. I apply it to my lids and lashes at night to remove my makeup before I wash my face. I leave it on my eyes for about a half hour to a hour then I wash my face and run water over my lids to wash away the oil. I find that it was too heavy and clogging to leave it on my eyes over night.

I also apply it to my legs after I shave them and my legs have never been smoother. A little goes a long way. I also love the smell of baby oil. So that's always a plus.

As for making my eyelashes grow I have to say they aren't as sparse as they were before. They are also a little longer, but it's not a miracle eyelash growing product. I just noticed that my lashes were healthy so they grew longer.

So in a nutshell go out and buy baby oil. It's a cheap three in one product, but remember a little goes a long way!!

I need help!!!

Okay so I bought this foundation maybe a year or two ago, it was my go to foundation, except the color is a shade too light so I stopped using it.  My I NEED HELP comes in by; does anyone know a foundation that is just like this? As far as I know they don't make this foundation anymore and I would love to buy something just like it.
SO any suggestions? I totally need any and all feedback about this! Thanks lovelies!!

November Favorites

Is anyone out there?? *cricket. cricket.* haha Wow I've been gone for almost a month. I'm super sorry and ashamed. School, and work just took over my life. I started teaching swim lessons at work along with lifeguarding and being a full time student, just gets crazy sometimes. Sorry!!

Onto what you ladies want to read about. Last months favorites. I have pretty small selection of Favorites this month because you seen mostly everything I use on a daily bases as a favorite already, no one wants repeats!

Dolce & Gabbana Rose the one is one of my absolute favorite perfumes!! It's such a subtle lovely rose scent that doesn't overpower you, and also doesn't remind me of a Grandma vibe. I know that rose scents can be super hard to find without the thought of grandmas.  I only wear it during the cold months, it's way too heavy for summer and spring. It has a sexy feel to it which I love.

Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Clear Scrub I have most of the Stress Control line, and I use it everyday, I sometimes mix other products in my daily regiment. I noticed after two months an extreme improvement in my acne. I've seen better results then using Acne-Free Severe system that I reviewed here.  It surprised me with the results I've achieved. It's not all cleared up but there is a noticeable difference. I just wish they had something with scarring fading with this line.

Maybelline Great Lash lots of lashes in blackest black. Just does wonderful things for my lashes. It's awesome!!! It doesn't make my lashes feel or look weighed down. I love this and recommend this to everyone, look out for an up coming review on this product.

E.L.F. All over stick in Lilac Petal and Spotlight I learned this really awesome trick from my sister-in-law who's an makeup artist. That I use when applying my blush and it gives my face this really pretty glow, I've been using the both of them almost everyday. There will be either a video or a big photo heavy post on how to do this. We'll see what I do. Not sure yet.

I hope you ladies like my favorites. Until next time! Which will be soon since I've got 3 things already scheduled to be posted!!

Happy Halloween! Any Suggestions?

I hope everyone is having an awesome halloween! I'm actually staying in tonight, I have work at 7am tomorrow, so I'm actually hoping into bed after this. I did go out and had my fill of partying so don't worry I got my college partying in. ;)

So the reason I am posting is, do you guys have good suggestions for hand lotions? I've been using my trusted Vaseline at night but I need something to use during the day. Vaseline's a bit too mess to use during the day.

My hands looks horrendous because I've been teaching more swim lessons this year, and it's been unusually cold this year in Philly. So Ladies, and Gentleman I seriously need your help, what hand lotions do you love for during the day, without making your hands greasy?

Any brands that you just love? What do you use? Is anyone having this sudden attack of horrendous hands? HELP!!

Outfit of the Day

So it snowed yesterday in Philly, I was not thrilled.   It's pretty much all melting today, which is great!
So I'm going out for lunch in a few and I pulled this outfit together, which I got for all under $20.

I got the shirt$4 and sweater$10 on sale from Forever 21 plus.
I got the Jeans from a deb warehouse sale for $3. There are a bit last season, but I don't like to wear jeans that often, I'm a more yoga and leggings girl. So if they're last season I could care less.

Can you put together an outfit under $20. I know I find it hard. But I now started a habit when I look for clothes, is I look on the clearance/sale racks first. I still sometimes get surprised on what great items I find.

Ion Demi Permanent Dye

I decided to try out demi permanent dye instead of what I usually use permanent dye. Since demi-permanent is much nicer to your hair.

Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo VS J&J Baby Powder

I'm back with a HighEnd product VS a DrugStore product.

Almost everyone knows the secret of rubbing baby powder in your hair to soak up the oil and put off washing your hair for another day. But does it work?

Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo pronto (powder) gets raves reviews but is it really worth it?

Mac Fluidline VS Maybelline Eyestudio

If you have been reading my blog from the beginning then you know that I have been on a hunt for a replacement of Mac's Fluidline. So I decided to try Maybelline Eyestudio gel liner.

Last Mani of Pink October

So I was trying really hard to finish and do a pink October this year. I couldn't do it. Sorry! I had to switch up the color, that and I only have so many pink polishes (6 but a few are almost the same color) So here's my last one. Finger Paints' "Hue Left A Message?" Its a pure pink glitter in a clear base. It goes on smoothly and dries quickly. I definitely needs a top coat. After the top coat the polish is smooth, not gritty. It's a very pale pink color on the nails.
I love this brand, it's cheaper than OPI and China glaze, but the same great quality. Finger Paints can be found at Sally's and are usually $4. Finger Paints actually has an impressive selection too!!

Elf quad in Rocker

So there's a select few ELF products I actually like  and this is one of them. I find with ELF no matter what it is, that with me it's always a HIT or a MISS. The Elf eyeshadow quad in Rocker is a really cute combo of colors. Great for day or night. Click down below to see what I created with this quad and my thoughts on it.

Review on Rimmel's Volume accelerator

I bought Rimmel's Volume accelerator back towards the end of August, and have been wearing it everyday with the exception when I switched it out a few random days for waterproof mascara. I've actually used it for over 30 days. I kept track. I just can't find the photo of the picture I took for before reference of my lashes. I couldn't really find anywhere online what this mascara promises to do in making your lashes grow.
Click down below for the results.

NOTD Baby Cakes

This is my right hand, not even my dominate one!
So it being October I'm going to be like a lot of other bloggers out there and try to do a pink October. This will be new for me because I've been doing a red october the last couple of years, for the Phillies. Since they're not in the playoffs anymore I'll be doing pink October instead this month for beast cancer awareness.

This October hits a little closer to home for me this year, my one aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she caught it super early so the doctors say she should be making a full recovery. It's still scary but it's great to know that her doctor has no fear of her beating this.

My other Aunt is doing the 3day walk this October in Philadelphia. I'm super proud of her, and it just blows me away all the women that get involved with this. I know I'll be joining her on the walk next year.

Okay now down to business. I painted my nails with Jessie's Girl nail polish in baby cakes. I lent this polish out by the time I sat down to type up this review so if you wanna check out the nail polish bottle you can see it in this post.

Here's what I thought about this polish: I love the color, it's a great Neon pink color AND it isn't streaky!! It dries super quick, and matte. I didn't like that but I put on a top coat anyway so that fixed that problem. But this polish chips like crazy!! I did my usual mani routine, OPI's chip skip, china glaze base coat, and a clear top coat. I had to take them off after the third day.

Verditc: Well I'm not surprised that I had crazy chipping problems, it was $1.99. Would I buy it again? No. I'll continue my hunt for the perfect neon pink for my summer nails somewhere else. But if you do paint your nails every other day then, this has enough color in it that it would be worth your money.

Beauty Tip 5 - Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil

Beauty Tip series, tip 5, Tea Tree Oil, What tea tree oil does, beauty tip tea tree oil, nose piercing bump, how to get rid of nose piercing bump, piercing bump
  • If your one of those poor unfortunate souls (Poor unfortunate souls, In pain, in need -bahaha couldn't help myself) like me who suffer from nose piercing bumps because you irritated the sensitive skin around the piercing. You just dab on a little In the morning and night - if you can squeeze in once in the afternoon that's great but don't exceed three times a day. The bump should be gone in a week if you use it 3times a day

I've read a lot of different articles about how Tea Tree Oil helps heal acne. So I went and found a recipe for a Tea Tree Oil mask.

Here's the recipe:
  • 3 drops of Tea Tree Oil
  • 1  Tablespoon of pure honey
  • you mix the two ingredents together and lather all over your face and neck. Leave on for 10mins. Wash off with warm water.
      • okay here's the deal with this mask. I have to make mine larger. So I triple the recipe. Also it's kinda really messy, so you might wanna hangout in the bathroom when using this. Make sure you don't get it in your hair. That is not fun getting it out of your hair.

This post ends my Beauty tips you think twice about, well at least for now! I hope you guys enjoy it and walk away with some new tips!

Any homemade beauty recipes you'd like to share? I'm always up to trying new things!

NOTD Sexy Divide

Getting into the fall mood, I picked a deep, but vibrant
purple color to paint my nails. So I picked essie's sexy divide. It's a beautiful color, but I had some problems. The first coat was extremely streaky, and patch. The second coat cleared up a lot of the patchy/streckiness of it but it was still there. I had to deal because I didn't have time to do a third coat. To spice up this mani I used nail stickers I had floating around.

I think the stickers gave it a cool vibe.

Verdict: Now while even with the problems I love this nail polish. I would buy it again but when it comes to buying essie products, only buy it on sale, or buy it at CVS and use your extra care bucks like I do. As a college student $8 is a lot to spend on one nail polish. I'd suggest buying it on sale or not buying it at all.

Beauty Tip 4 - ELF Facial Whip

ELF spotlight facial whip
  • This works great as a base for eyeshadow, it's sticky on the lids so your eyeshadow has something to grab onto.
  • Use it as a highlight. It last all day and night and really noticeable in pictures! I like to put a little over my lipstick on my cupids bow, say hello to noticeable lips (I get more kisses when I do this ;) haha)
Elf Facial Whip in different colors
  • I have it in Pink Lemonade, and I use it as a blush by itself, or under a powder blush to make it last.
  • I also use Pink Lemonade on my lids. I just swipe some on, but liner on then off I go.
  • You can buy it in other colors and use it as a eyeshadow as well. Just add liner and mascara and out the door you go. The easiest school look ever. Promise!!

Beauty Tip 3 - Vaseline

  • I've tried all kids of chapsticks and lip balms, nothing really thrills me like Vaseline(or A&D ointment in this case only) does, Its super hydrating and gives me a gloss look without being sticky.  Apply it to your lips  at night and through out the day and you can wave chapped lips goodbye!  Trust me I was on accutane for over a year and those two products saved my lips big time!
  • Super dry, cracked hands during the winter? No problemo! Just slather this generously on your hands before night then put on either a moisture gloves or footie socks(if you don't have the gloves, you if you're like me and missing one glove.)
  • For a person who dyes their own hair, this is a lifesaver. It saves me from looking like I killed someone. (I dye my hair red) I apply this around my hair line, on my ears, and on the back of my neck. This keeps the dye from staining those areas. BUT remember not to get it in your hair, if you do the color won't reach those strands.

Beauty Tip 2 Scotch Tape

How about scotch tape, only good for taping your pictures to your dorm room or wrapping gifts? WRONG!
  • cleaning up  makeup fallout, just make a circle out of it, sticky side facing out, stick your finger in the middle and press it against where the fallout is and it's gone!
  •  nail designs, you want a quick french cover the part of the nail you don't want white, peal away while paint's still wet. You can to do two colors? Paint your nails the base color, than angle the tape over what you don't want painted a different color, and bam! You have awesome two tone nails!
  • If you  need to clean up the stray fur left behind on clothes by a beloved pet(or your own hair on a sweater), easy clean up in a jiffy when you don't have a lint brush!

Beauty Tips series - Tip 1

Okay Ladies and Gentleman, I've decided to do this little mini series of beauty tips that make you think twice about your beauty regiment. My hopes is that you take away some new knowledge or that you just improve your beauty regiment. These are tips that work for me and not work for everyone.

Okay Guys I hope you like it!

What do you think of when you see baby wipes? Only one use right? Only usable to babies. WRONG! You can use them in your daily makeup routine!
  1. You can use them to clean your brushes between each use and to stretch out the time between each proper cleaning.
  2. Wipe your face free of makeup. If your feeling lazy, or just to tired after a night of partying you can wipe off your makeup at night, and not worry about what your foundation is doing to your skin while you sleep. I buy the kind for sensitive skin.
It's impossible not to love the simplicity of the baby wipes trick at such a low cost, your brushes will thank you.

Oh Dear!! I'm sorry!!

Okay wow, I've been gone from blogging/commenting for a week now, and it makes me super mad that I just got so busy I didn't even have the time to make sure blogger was posting my sceduled post, (which it didn't post three of them). So here I was today going on to write/schedule a few more posts for my blog because these coming weeks I'm expecting a few tests. I was expecting a few comments on my posts and there was none for any of my new posts, which I found weird. So I go see what's up and the post I schedule got moved to drafts. This made no sense to me.

So in light of all that I'm super sorry guys! This is seriously not like me to just drop this. I honestly love writing out my posts and sharing what I think of the products I review. I myself read tons of great blogs and I take their input seriously when I go shopping. I'm so glad to all those that follow me, you guys really make this 10times funner for me!

Okay so while I was gone I was nominated for a few awards so if you're still interested in my blog click below to see what awards I've won and who I awarded them to!!

Nothing is that bad.

HI guys,

If you don't want to read a sad post I suggest you don't read this. That's your warning.

Today is the last day of National Suicide Prevention week. I guess I should have done this post when I first found out, but it wasn't exactly on my mind. A cousin of mine on Sunday committed suicide. He was 26 years old and had a loving family;  his life seemed to be all smiles and laughs.  We all know just what we see on the outside isn't the same as what's happening in others minds. I'm writing this post not to write about his life, I am writing this to say there is nothing that bad in life that you need to take your life.

Please watch yourself, and your friends when they are drinking. Do not let anyone near a gun when they have had anything to drink, even if it's one glass. There are always people either in your life or from the suicide prevention line to talk to. Talk to someone anyone. Just don't do it. If you could see all that love you, I would hope that you would have changed you mind.

If you or anyone you know is thinking of suicide either talk to them or give them this number 1-800-273-8255, it's the national suicide line. Please, Please,  Please it's not your only option.

Essie Starry Starry Night Dupe??

So I was in the FrankenPolish making mood, since I just got done making my polish for Laura's Lacquer's FrankenPolish Contest.  I was sitting on the floor of my dorm just looking at my collection trying to think of what I could create. Then BAM! It hit me like a STAR! I'd try to make a dupe for Essie's Starry Starry Night! I think I did. It looks pretty damn good if you ask me! I love it. I know in the winter I will be wearing this more.

What I did was mix NYC black nail polish, just enough to coat the bottle on the empty polish bottle. Then I poured in 60% of China Glaze Fairy Dust. Then the rest is Sally Hansen's Blue it! I think when I use this a little more I'll add some more of the blue and glitter to lighten it up a bit more.

How it applies: It's a little liquidly, but can be handled. It's streaky and a little see through on the first coat, but after the second coat it's a smooth color. It's not a jelly polish like my beloved ESSN, (RIP I dropped it last year, it broke :(  ) But it does it's purpose and fools others!

Verditic: This is super easy to make yourself. I love it and will be using this a lot this winter. What do you think? Do you think it looks like a dupe? Do you guys make your own frankenpolishes?

A new cut, a new coat and new polish

So I came home for the long weekend from school to spend time with my family. On sunday my wonderful mom took me for a hair cut and to buy me a new winter coat. I go to hair cuttery, because it's cheap and you don't have to have an appointment. So we were waiting in line to pay, and I see that they were selling the shatter polishes from OPI in the blues and red.

Of course my wonderful mom sees me eyeing the blue shatter, and she buys it for me because she's that cool. So here are my swatches of the turquoise shatter over NYC white polish. It looks great but the mani instantly started to chip! I blame it on the bad quality white polish. So I can wear this combo more often I'm looking for a better quality white polish. Any suggestions?

I was trying to get close enough so you could see the shimmer but no such luck, but it's soo pretty!
The reason I love this shatter look it because the turquoise shatter has this beautiful shine to it, and looks great over other polishes too. In this photo I wore it over Mermaid Tears.
I'm wearing OPI's silver shatter on the other fingers.

The reasons I like shatters so much is because it makes a chipped manicure last a few more days before I have to change the polish. I just paint on the shatter polish, and no one notices or can see that my nail polish was chipped!

My wonderful mom also bought me this wonderful winter coat from burlington coat factory. I love that store, if you look hard enough you find a lot of brand names for steals. Speaking of steals I was able to get a $350 guess coat for $100. Now that is a steal!! Here are is a photo of me modeling this lovely coat, it was just too HOT in my dorm to try and model the coat for you guys. I think I love the most about my coat is that it can be dress when I need it too. It's also very stylish! I'm so in love with my winter coat!! I can't wait to start wearing it!

What are your favorite places to buy cheap designer clothes? Any suggestions on a better quality white polish? Do you guys like the shatter craze or are you over it?

Acne-Free Severe

Acne-Free severe review

I've had severe acne since I was a freshmen in High School. I have also seen a dermatologist throughout all four years of high school, just recently stopping during my freshmen year of College. I have tried everything, and I seriously mean everything. I even went on Accutane(which worked the best) for a little over a year. But I have never gotten rid of my acne. I still have it and I wash my face everyday and use acne fighting products everyday. I have been using Acne-free for severe acne and this has given me better results I have ever had. Well maybe not better than Accutane, but you can not be on that for over two years.

Accutane is an extremely dangerous acne fighting drug and should be used as a last resort. It has to be precribe to you by a doctor.  It claims that this will clear your acne permanently, but after I went off it I only had clear skin  for a little bit before my acne came back with a vengeance.

So my suggestion to use is Acne-Free for severe acne, it's pretty harsh but works.

It is a four step system. You have the face wash and toner in the system like every other system out there.  What is different is you only use the lotion once a day, and the retinol once a day at night. I did find this system to be drying so I use cetaphil lotion on my face at night and it keeps the dry patches away.

I swear by that this will help you if you have really bad acne. IF you don't have really bad acne or if you have sensitive skin I suggest you use either the regular Acne-free or the sensitive Acne-free system.

I love this brand way more than proactiv, you get bigger bottles at a cheaper price definitely more bang for your buck!

Verdict: Buy this product if you have acne. If it's not that bad then I suggest you buy a different system from this brand. The sever system runs around $30, while the other systems run around $20. The severe is more expensive because of the retinol lotion in the system.

My August Favorites

I see all my favorite blogs I follow post their Monthly favorite products and they look like so much fun I wanted to do one myself.

This month's makeup was extremely bare, because seriously what real lifeguard wears makeup to work? I don't! That being said I went mostly bare this month. Yes I did put makeup on before I went out at night but because I was tired from working everyday I pretty much just did a sweep of eyeshadow color, liner, mascara, face powder and I was out the door. Here are the products I used and what I think about them.

Turn up the Heat Flat Iron Protection

Sally's Beauty Supply was having buy 2 get 1 free sale, who could say no to that? So I picked up three products from Beyond the Zone brand. I heard great results from this brand, from friends and online so I was like what the Heck I'll give it a try! If you read below you can see what I thought of the Flat Iron spray.

Essie Pink Parka

In the Shade

When I think of summer I think of dresses, hot pink nails and tanned skin. So as the summer slips  away, and fall nail colors hitting the stores now, I figured that this was my last chance to do some crazy colors on my nails before heading back to school.( Which I go back TOMORROW! I'm super excited!)

How to take care of Tattoos

So you just got a tattoo, spent 2 months of saving your money and now have no money to buy the 'specail' lotion 'required' to take care of your tattoos. I've been there, done that. And trust me you don't need to spend anywhere from $10 to  $30 on lotion that you 'need' to heal your tattoo with.
If you jump down below I'll tell you how to take care of your new Tattoo!

L'Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Hydra Collagen Plumping Mascara

As Philadelphia and my dorm hunkers down for Irene, I figured I might as well type up another quick review before I run over to my friends dorm for movies.

I'm always looking for a mascara that actually makes me look like I have eyelashes. So when I see mascara's boosting of volume I'm always tempted to try it out. I came across this in CVS when I was buying more bronzer. I bought this with high hopes as it promises:

ELF Liquid Eyeliner and Waterproof Eyeliner Pen

Once again I'm on the quest for a better eyeliner.  I know in another post about an ELF eyeliner, the cream eyeliner; I was not too nice to it or with ELF products.

Wet n Wild color Icon Eyeshadow trio in Cool as a Cucumber

On this lovely rainy day in Philadelphia I decided to look through my makeup and throw out the olddies when I stumbled upon an old favorite for a smokey eye combo. I wore this a lot on nights out last year, and I feel like others should find out about this hidden gem!

E.L.F. Cream Eyeliner in Ivory and Midnight

I was in my local target picking out new notebooks for the coming fall semester, so of course I had to go down the makeup aisle.  Money's a little tight for me right now because I just spent a small fourtane on my school text books so I went straight to the E.L.F. display.

I was looking for a new cheaper version of my Holy Grail of gel eyeliners (Mac fluidline) so decided to try E.L.F.'s Studio Cream Eyeliner.

E.L.F. promises :Creates smooth lines that are defined and precise. Smudge-proof, budge-proof and water-resistant coverage for all day wear to combat against, sweat, tears and rain! Slanted Eyeliner Brush included!

Here's what I found:
